The U.S. naval blockade against Iran, the first America has unilaterally enforced since the Cold War, is now entering its third day. To discuss the latest U.S. operations, JINSA Iran Policy Project Advisor Vice Admiral (ret.) Robert Harward spoke with NewsNation on April 13.

Vice Admiral (ret.) Harward, former Deputy Commander, U.S. Central Command, described how advanced U.S. defense technology "minimizes the risk" to American forces helping enforce the new naval blockade.

The vice admiral stated, "tools under the water, above the water, sonar, and other tools" enable mine detection at a safe distance. He reiterated that "there's a lot of technology to leverage" in U.S. efforts to reopen the strait to commercial shipping.
