The 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul marked a major milestone in Turkey's emergence as a global defense powerhouse. From cutting-edge technologies to record-breaking defense deals, Turkish defense companies introduced a wide array of new military innovations that captured global attention. Among the highlights were two powerful new munitions – Gazap and Hayalet – developed by Turkey's Ministry of National Defense. The exhibition also featured the unveiling of advanced weapon systems like the Trakon 30 and Venom LR, integrated into modern tactical vehicles such as the NMS 4x4 and FNSS platforms.
Defense giant Sys Group demonstrated an integrated defense ecosystem involving partners like Canik, AEI Systems, and Unirobotics. Meanwhile, autonomous naval technologies like the Marlin USV and AI-powered combat simulations from Aselsan and Havelsan demonstrated Turkey’s technological independence.
IDEF 2025 wasn’t just a showcase—it was a business platform. Turkey signed a historic deal with Indonesia for 48 KAAN fighter jets, while Saudi Arabia expressed strong interest in the KIZILELMA unmanned combat drone. African and NATO countries are also turning to Turkish-made solutions, making Turkey not only a defense user but a trusted global provider.
With innovation, national resilience, and strategic collaboration at its core, Turkey is writing a new chapter in global defense.
