In our experience a large amount of iot devices or low cost devices with WiFi only support the 2.4Ghz band. If you have an SSID that has both 2.4 and 5Ghz enabled sometimes it can cause the device problems when trying to connect. Using this method you can create an SSID in UniFi that is 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz or 6Ghz ONLY for devices that need it.
