Starting Salary in Tech Sales as an SDR When you're starting your tech sales or software sales career as a recent graduate or a person who just changed industries into tech sales, you might expect a base salary of $40,000 to $65,000 USD with an OTE totaling $70,000 to $90,000. OTE means On Target Earnings and combines your salary plus 100% of your commission if you hit your full quota for the year. You can earn more or less depending on how much you sell for a given time period.
Why Companies Pay So Much For SDRs & Entry Level Roles Sales development reps and business development reps get paid high salaries and commissions because they play an active role in generating revenue for their company.
