The SaaS or Software as a Service Area is getting more crowded than ever and it has become increasingly hard to come up with a good idea. I myself have tried and started multiple software business that have failed but i learned a lot on the way. I did some research and actually came up with promising industries for SaaS Startups.
Marketplaces like Airbnb, Uber, Fiver and Amazon are widely popular in their industry but there are still lots of unexplored areas suited for this type of business. After talking with people in relevant industries I have identified two areas that are still underdeveloped. Real Estate Building Materials Marketplace. There are a lot of marketplaces for renting properties and in my opinion every SaaS business is focusing on the upper tiers but a few companies are focusing on the lower tier stuff.
The Global Automation Market will be worth 214 billion dollars in 2021 according to Statista. The most promising segments are Factory Automation, Process Automation, Robotics, Industrial Software, 3D Printing, AI and Drones.
In my opinion the buzz around machine learning has actually dropped a bit but it is more relevant then ever. Any type of analytics software is a great idea. Businesses rely today more than ever on data for any type of decisions.
More often than not are big problems already solved. This does not mean that you shouldn't focus on that but there is a large opportunity in micro SaaS Businesses. Since there is so much competition and there are so many products out there it has become much more important for a SaaS Business to be able to integrate with other tools than to do everything on its own.
The last category of SaaS Startup Ideas with a lot of potential in my opinion are video and other online conferencing tools. Yes there is already a lot of competition out there but with the fallout of everything that happened in 2020 the landscape has changed a lot and opened a lot of opportunities.
