Tesla has been shipping the Foundation Series Cybertruck exclusively since it opened up reservations to be configured earlier this year. As Tesla opened up the order books recently to take delivery immediately for a Foundation Series Cybertruck, it was clearly just a matter of time before the $20k uncharge model would finally be put to rest.
The day has come, and the non-foundation series Cybertruck is now available to be configured and deliveries are happening this quarter. This long anticipated option comes in at $79,990 and gives us our first look at option pricing for the Cybertruck.
The Cybertruck option pricing is as follows: Cyber Wheels $3,500, White Interior $2,000, and for a limited time, early reservations seem to be able to select FSD for $7,000. It is unclear if that pricing will be available for all reservation holders, or if it will only be available for those who locked in the $7,000 price back in 2021.
Another strange finding is that the estimated range on the Cybertruck now lists All Wheel Drive with core wheels at 325 and cyber wheels at 314. This is compared to the existing Foundation Series listed ranges of 340 for core, and 318 for cyber wheel. This change does seem strange as the Cyberbeast lists cyber wheel on both at 301 miles. It likely is an update that is needed on the Foundation Series page to match an updated range estimate from Tesla.
And then theres the Tax credit situation. Since the Cybertruck starts under $80k, it meets the limit for tax credit eligibility for trucks. We also know that the assembly, and the 4680 battery cells are both made in Texas, and should therefore be eligible for the $7,500 credit. But absent from Teslas "estimated savings is the Tax Credit. Indeed when we also look on fueleconomy.gov, the Cybertruck is also not listed as certified tax credit eligible.
Since it is not certified, at least as of the last update, this vehicle is not qualified for the tax credit. Now of course this could be a simple update of paper work, delay in processing, or any number of small matters, but as it sits right now, the Cybertruck is not qualified. Until it is certified as qualified, there is no guarantee, although it is likely to be.
